START to Join the Ride Across Iowa

RAGBRAI, the Des Moines Register’s Annual Great Bicycle Ride Across Iowa, is more than just a bike ride, it is an epic eight-day rolling festival of bicycles, music, food, camaraderie, and community. It is the oldest, largest, and longest multi-day bicycle touring event in the world. This year’s event, taking place July 23-29, marks the 50th anniversary of the ride and 6th year of START’s participation.

Since 2014, START Senior Solutions has participated in the ride to fundraise in support of START’s mission.

It hadn’t dawned on me to host a bike ride fundraiser until individuals donated money to START when I rode in 2014 to honor my dad. Just two years prior, he had ridden this ride for the last time at the age of 87. The funds we raise this year will help START add a second nurse to our team.

This year’s START team riders include Tracy, Tom, Bob, Carla, and Nicholas. Jeff will be the team team driver. In addition to cycling 500 miles – from Sioux City to Davenport – START’s team of riders have set a goal to raise $10,000 for START. Their efforts will be generously matched dollar for dollar up to $5,000 by an anonymous donor.

We invite you to support the START team by donating to their efforts. Additional information can be found here. You can follow along with their ride progress through updates on START’s RAGBRAI page.

Thank you to our START team riders, drivers, and match donor!
